The Drummer of Death
Copyrighted Rahman, brigitte arlette -2001-All rights reserved
Every fifteenth of July
She is seen walking through the meadows
her gaze intent on the highest tower
of the dungeon of a desolate casle
The drummer of death
is not never in for her
yet she still hears the beat
in the wind that blew forth
one seventeenth century spring.
When the drum commands
the earth opens graciously
always for another, never for her.
The drummer keeps idle when she is near.
Back and forth in painful history
he and she,
both swang away from the beat.
